I'm new to the forum here and just want to introduce myself, so "hello" everyone.

I've been a longtime fan of guitars manufactured at the Matsumoku factory. By "longtime" I mean the first electric guitar I bought was in 1980 when I was like 16 years old; It was a wine red Epiphone Genesis. What's interesting though is I could swear it was a model called "Genesis II" with not only coil tap but a phase reverse switch as well, to throw the pickups out of phase. Anyway, I've been unable to find evidence that a "II" version of the Genesis even existed, so...

I also owned a Vantage acoustic guitar, purchased in the same year; all birch wood construction. My 1st wife smashed that one up for me when we were living in Spain. Of course, she wasn't my wife for very much longer.

These days I'm a big fan of Vantage guitars and basses.

So, I'm happy to have been invited to this forum and I'm looking forward to watching some great discussion about all the fantastic instruments that came out of the amazing Matsumoku factory.

Cheers!
Ken

There was a Genesis II in the Westone range with all of the features you mention....

Welcome, Ken!

Jorg wants you to send your old acoustic to him.

Thanks for your replies guys. Nice one JE, yeah, I wonder how that acoustic would have sounded today after mellowing for 33 years. Who knows.

I noticed just today that Epi reissued the Genesis. Weird how its history is still such a mystery. MIJ or not? I always thought it was MIJ.

Ken, some excellent Epiphone often overlooked wiki pages I think you should check:
