No worries.
The offer is still open if any funds are needed to keep things running.
Cheers

Some of you may have missed this thread started by Slo-hand only a few weeks ago wherein we discussed much of the same sorts of things: http://www.matsumoku.org/ggboard/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=5762
Seems like we're running over some of the same ground here and possibly confusing two different issues.

In Slo-hand's thread we were talking mainly about changes/reorganization to the Forums.
In this current thread, Racing's initial question has to do with updating the online catalogue reference/information site: http://www.matsumoku.org/ggboard/index.php.

His reasoning, I think, was that it has become an increasingly authoritative reference for most Mats built guitars and basses. With the addition of so many active members and the subsequent new information they bring to the knowledge base, the main reference site needs to be overhauled using the Forum postings as the basis for new pix and information.

Any efforts, I feel, should first be directed at that web site, which is a more technical/design requirement. Once it is up to date, and everyone is happy with it, then we can look at re-organizing the Forums. That is a huge job, and requires more grunt work, cross referencing and time to get it into more usable shape. See the above referenced thread for more discussion.

And Merry Christmas to all!! :santawink:

Well, it is up to you all now. I gave it 8 happy years and it's time for others to take over.

The only reason there was no extensive "general" tech info is because there are so many resources out there. The fear was this would become just another homogeneous guitar site. But, that fear may have been unfounded.

I had considered phpBB as a base for the archives. But, it also requires maintenance. The last time I looked these forums were at least one version out of date.

If there is any interest in the new templates I can zip them up and put them someplace accessible via http. The base work can be viewed here:

http://www.matsumoku.net/

I'll try and help if I can.

Crusty et al.
When it comes to the basic,or even more elaborate, information of Matsumoku guitars i for one stand behind what Barry says.

In the mere last year alone i alone have seen many many using this site for reference as the interest in Matsumoku guitars is steadily increasing.
A mere fact is that some of the info in the archives is incomplete, out of date or downright just wrong-which all stands to reason as we´re all still learning-and that at a rather rapid rate.
The original thought on my mind was/is that i for one at least feel we need to consider that responsability as well as act on it.

There+s a number of us that take great interest in these guitars as well as Matsumoku in general, and as so much is hidden or even held in suspense still, one way or another ,fresh information is presented at a rather rapid rate to this day.

What i´m getting at is that i for one at least think we need to rethink the whole setup a little in as much as being way more dynamic.

Of coure this place will increasingly take on a role as THE information site for Matsumoku guitars, and as such...see above.
Put another way,i at least have a hard time seing that wouldn´t happen(or more to the point already has)
