This stuff is so funky :toopid:

Today I've been working on the RSB and SB-R basses, and once again came across chestnut. This time it's the SB-R150 that is built with chestnut, but on the flip-side it's consistent between catalogs, the specs are the same for domestic and international catalogs.
But the funny bit is that it is listed as a zebrawood/chestnut/zebrawood lamination. But, laminated how? Looking at catalog images there are no other wood present apart from zebrawood and the neck woods(maple/walnut). So it must be a pancake construction.

Not sure what I want to say with this though... just jotting my thoughts down in the hope of lighting the bulb

Oh, looking good. I'd like one of those please

Was your 400 a pancake Trev?
(Although I suspect the TS' aren't)

Hmm, I thought so.

But! (there's always one)

Take a look on eBay, Chingo is selling a walnut TS-400 and if I'm not all too decieved it does look like a pancake construction on that one.
I'm still not sure of the significance pertaining sycamore/chestnut though.
I'll sleep on it and see what I might dream up

Thats a pancake for sure Ohjay, great spotting.
Must have been short of wood that day or something,
Maybe some of the painted ones are done that way also
I've never seen a TS before like that, interesting.
I've owned 5 of the suckers & still own 3 & they are all slightly different to each other in their construction, no pancakes however.
The deeper you dig, the more confusing it becomes. :loon:

There is no Zebrawood in there! That said, Zebrawood would look fantastic under the cherry red clear on some SBs. Mmmmm. :D
