I've owned several Aria Pros, including a CS350 (my first), LC430 (transition LP style), another LC430, two PE60s, one was a bng, the other japan brown, one PE120, and now this beautiful PE-r80.

I was actually looking for a PE1000, I played one and was blown away by it, but the seller wanted to much and wouldn't budge so I moved on. I must say this PE-R80 is an absolutely spectacular guitar. To me, it is the pinnacle of Aria and what the other Arias I've owned aspire to. The tone is amazing. It's not a les paul killer, it is something of it's own creation. IT does sound very much like a PE 1000, despite different pickups. (this one has classic sounds, the PE1000 has Protomatics)

My PE60s had MMKs I think and to be honest, I was never able to get the PE60s to sound anything other than "solid". The MMKs were far too muddy, so I switched them out for Seymour Duncans in one, and SBG2000 pickups in the other. They were okay, but nothing like the PE-R80. Sometimes I pick up a stock guitar and am just amazed, I just know that the guitar was engineered to sound exactly like the way it sounds. No mods necessary. Like the first time I played an Ibanez RG770 or my Les Paul Classic (I find most LEs Pauls too muddy) It's just WOW.

Anyways, really happy so far, will post some pics later
