Picked this up on a whim but I've had zero luck finding any information on it. The neck says it's a Maxtone but the plate says it's an Aria Pro II. Serial number is C007923. Made in Japan. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Cheers.

Since everything matches the headstock I think it is a Maxtone. There are two possibilites for the neck plate: 1) the same factory made some APII's and they pulled the plate from the wrong bin; or two someone swaped it.

From what I know about them they are a beginner type guitar and are made in Taiwan and China for the Western market. The neck plate is a bit puzzling as I don't believe these were made by Aria but rather a large lower end Mass Producer like a Samaick but a step below. If Aria did make it I just don't see it coming from pre 1986 Japan. The finish doesn't look anything like what Aria was doing in Japan in the 1980s.
