Is there anyone here who can translate the specifications in a couple of Japanese catalogs? Some models covered there were not covered in the US market catalogs.

I'll even buy you a virtual steak dinner and digital beer! :D

Hi Crusty,
I use the Google Translate app for android, it allows you to scan text with a phone camera & then translates it for you.
Not sure if the iphone version can do this.
It works surprisingly well.
I even use it to translate the Nav screen on a Japanese import Vehicle I have.
Give it a go.
Cheers.

I've already tried that. No worky.
A couple of OCR sites complained right off the bat that the images were of too poor quality. The ones that did try spat out gibberish. Broken Japanese-English-Hieroglyphics-Alien-Lost Language type gibberish. :-?

I also have a French Vantage Acoustic catalog that is of too poor quality for OCR. Guess I should have stayed in High School, eh?

I can ask my niece who is both married to a Japanese and lives there; they've both been helpful to me in the past?

I'm not going to pass up any help at all! Just be sure they don't mind. I don't want to put them out.

Righto. I'll see what she reckons.

Copy of message sent to her FB page....

"Hey, there, Debs... how's things?
I have a request... you may or may not know that I collect guitars from a certain Japanese manufacturer of the mid 80s, and there is an online presence for these with catalogues being scanned in etc. Now, most of these scans are English language, but the bloke who runs the website has some Japanese language ones - you can see where this going, right?! ;-) - which we'd love to have translated!
Would you or Hide - or both of you! - be even remotely interested in helping out?

Cheers and beers

John"

We'll see what happens.

I know you sent me an update on this but for the life of me I can't find it in PMs or on FB.

I believe the answer was yes. I'll need to zip them up and send them to you. If it's a go send me your email address in a PM and I'll get them to you.

Many thanks to you and your Niece!
