I have an Aria Pro II SB-1000 with weak output (probably 20%). I have used a multimeter to test the preamp and it iis providing proper values (18v when connected to pins 1-3 with jack inserted, and 9v between pins 1 and 2, and between 2 and 3).

I have tested the three wires coming from the pickup in every configuration possible and get nothing on my meter yet the pickup provides some volume to my amplifier. Is this normal? If the pickup works somewhat, shouldn't it be reading a value?

I have done everything short of pulling the pickup entirely (forcing it out to break the the almost twenty year bottom seal).

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and if anyone has a spare pickup I may be interested.

Have not been around for awhile so I'm sure you have figured it out by now... I had the same issue with mine and went ahead and bought both a new pickup and a new preamp.

Turns out it was the pick-up so I still have a "spare" pre-amp should I ever need it. I was able to buy these from Aria USA ( Barney) but have no idea if they are still around. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably try to find an upgrade for the pick up rather than the stock AP II. It's Ok, but I think there is more tone possible out of that bass.

Best of Luck,
Scott
