Hi - please can you help me identify the year and model of my Aria.

Here is a selection of images posted to Flickr
https://flic.kr/s/aHsmf8tLHU

As you can prob see it hasn't been played for years. I plan to rectify that soon.

PS. the small switches that you can see are custom additions for a coil tap and a phase switch.

Thanks
Taffy

Hopefully this will help avoid the popup. Forgot to mention - the scratchplate is missing.

Welcome!
I can't tell you the exact model but it has the "Transition" headstock from 1979/1980 and the serial is from 1980.
If I'm not mistaken. . . :D

I figured you'd pop by with something Jorg. ;-)

I don't know APII's very well at all but I did recognize the "transition" head stock and was fairly sure it was 1980 too.
What I couldn't find was a model with 1V, 1T. Unusual for an LP style guitar, no?

It's some sort of Transition headstock with a 1980 serial but it is also an LP copy... I dunno. Given that it's black and gold, could it be some sort of BG precursor, perhaps??

It has four pots, Barry; just that two don't have knobs...

Ah, right you are (duh).

That screaming sound you hear is a few more brain cells jumping overboard and leaving this sinking ship! :-(

The problem is we don't have enough info/pics of some of these models. This one also sports a bolt neck.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's a 1980 PE-110. http://matsumoku.org/models/ariaproii/p ... types.html
The only difference I see is the "transition" headstock.

Brilliant. Thanks guys, I am still a little intrigued. But to my untrained eye the PE-110 looks like a good shout.
Thanks again.

I suspect that this may well be the old "Specifications subject to change at any old time that we fancy" stuff that we're all too familiar with, eh!

PE-110 looks to be a good shout from here, too!!
