And what is it made of? I thought it was a Wildcat at one point, but it's clearly not:

Related to responses to my comments in the catalogs thread -- yeah, I would have thought '85 as well by the serial, but the ACT-PLS throws me. It's a Straycat in every other way, it seems, except for that.

Honestly, I can't keep up with all the RS models. With the leading 5, I'm guessing its an '85 model. Start throwing in specs and features, I'm gonna refer back to the only thing Uncle Mat promised:
Specifications subject to change. . . :toopidlol:

Guess I'll consider myself lucky to have got an ACT-PLS a model year early. ;) Or at all, I guess -- the '86 Straycat still shows the vintage tremolo, but has no pickguard. Still flummoxed...

Hey Trevor! Good to see you matey.

BTW, is your wonderful website no longer online? You had some beautifully restored instruments on display there.

Hi Barry, yes unfortunately it is no more. I ran into some hard times a while back & had to trim everything that was not a necessity.
I"m hoping I can bring it back at some point.

I'm really sorry to hear it Trev, you've been an integral part of this forum for so long.
Here's wishing you all the best, and hoping it gets better for you.

OK so it *is* a Wildcat, thanks. I wasn't sure, because the Wildcats seem to say so on the headstock, and the ACT-PLS wasn't even mentioned until '86 (at least in the catalogs) where it was intro'ed as "new".

Hi Xavier, Yes the year thing can be confusing.
This type of thing appears to be quite common & yours is a typical example.
When releasing the 86 catalogue, lets say it was at the end of 85 or beginning of 86.
Stock for the Guitars shown therein would have been assembled in mid/late 85 & therefore carry an 85 neckplate.
I imagine there would have been a several month lag between production & being available on the shelf in another country for sale.
Then, I guess if the model sold, production would have continued and the same guitar with an 86 neckplate would be in the shops later in 86.
Model Name not on the headstock was quite a common occurrence at that late stage of Matsumoku. Possibly due to different markets having different names for them.
