I have both an R80D and R60 with the exact same script as the original batwing series PE's, not the normal Aria Research script as I see on most. They both have a 007 serial number and are sequentially 62 digits apart, so there are obviously more of these, maybe a couple of hundred, but seem not to be seen very often.

I have seen others with the top line 'Designed & approved by H. Noble', bottom line ending 'Produced by Arai & Co., Inc Japan'

I am assuming this change in text coincided with Nobuaki Hayashi leaving Aria?

Does anyone have any extra info, or know of other script variants?

Very interesting topic. Maybe it has to do with the part of the world they were marketed. It's like I own three PE R60's with diamond inlays and MMK53's, but with the truss rod cover stamped as PE 60's. These were marketed for USA , because here is where i bought them. Or two of my PE 1000's that have NO serial numbers, and pickup rings, also sold in USA. Haven't seen that anywhere else.
I will check the inscription on my guitars and post on my findings later but I'm sure I have seen the difference you mention on some.
