That is the bridge. The Tailpiece is likely 81.9 or 82mm.

93mm total width. Post to post is probably 82mm.

That is what I am finding everywhere I look. Why oh why could they not have incorporated a standard tailpiece.

You're experiencing the same frustration as Westone Prestige/Rainbow/Thunder III owners.
This is the way it goes. So many stop tails are close . . . looks like a solution. . .but in the end, nuthin'! :toopid:

I chatted with a guy that makes them from brass. I sent pics of the PE-R80 and Prestige and he said he'd get back with me tomorrow.

just make sure he has exact measurements. Even 1mm off can cause outward or inward tension resulting in the anchors pulling loose. Then it's fill and drill. PITA.

Forum member Westbone at the Westone forum is a UK luthier with many years' experience and he had a few made by a friend of his from brass.

They were well done but more a labour of love and friendship than a commercial venture. I'm not sure he's even pursuing that anymore but it seems to be the only way out of this mess.

Another recent member had his machinist friend fashion one from carbon fibre off cuts at the place where he works. Again, a nice job but not a high volume solution either.

Yes, certainly not something to take lightly.

Barry, do we know the cost of those examples?

Offhand, no.
I don't think the carbon fibre member gave a figure 'cuz it was more of a personal favour and it was fashioned from off cuts.

The brass pieces were hand tooled from a solid billet (again via a friend) and Westbone was making a request list the last I remember, but other than saying they would not be cheap I don't think a value was ever advertised publicly.
EDIT: I found the reference and he did quote a figure of £50:

Considering the rarity of these odd-ball pieces I don't thing the price is too bad. Especially if it means saving an otherwise sweet ace. It would cost a mint in there the us to have them CNC machined.
