I'm thinking $50 - $75 would be pretty good.
The guy I was chatting with said around $100 off the top of his head but that was for one. I'm sure we could get a better price if we got a few.
I haven't heard back from him yet but I have other avenues to explore.

Stay tuned. . .

If you manage to pull this off you will have a lineup at your door and you'll probably be given a Royal peerage by the UK Westone owners!

Hey, great side hustle opportunity Chris! :loon:

I located the Westone post concerning the carbon fibre replacement for the Prestige. The owner originally had it up for sale on Reverb and was alerting the forum members when we noticed the bridge!
https://westone.forumotion.com/t7260-westone-prestige-150-for-sale-on-reverb
https://reverb.com/ca/item/66174092-westone-prestige-150-1983-black

He also had it on the FaceBook page and offered this information:
Quote:
...after the original one broke, snapped in the middle. No idea how, just opened the case one day to find it broken.
But I’m sure you are aware of the issue as it’s not a new one for Westone owners. So I have a friend who CNC machined me one to specs.
He works at a local guitar company that manufactures carbon fibre guitars so the tailpiece is made from carbon fibre

It sold for $1,383.09CAD + $153.68CAD Shipping

I had a chat to a student of mine who's in the military and he said he knows guys he works with who (if they had the time..........they don't  ) could whip up a passable bridge for the Prestige in an afternoon. He has said he will enquire further but , barring that , he said most hobby machinists could do something in brass fairly easily.

I'll keep asking around .......just a matter of finding someone who can be bothered.

For comparison, a Prestige 150 just came up on Kijiji locally (something that almost never happens) with original stop tail:
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-guitar/sarnia/1982-westone-prestige-150-mij-matsumoku/1655886072
Asking CAD$800, no case

There's no definitive picture of the stop tail but if you enlarge the pic it does appear like the treble E side slot has widened a bit which would indicate that it's in the process of bending.

I've been chatting with a few folks with the ability to make replacements. If they can do it, they wont be exact copies but they would be functional and presentable.
I'm thinking something like this: https://shop.phredinstruments.com/brass
I did chat with that guy but he's not will to change specs. To me, that would be the simplest thing to change but...
I'm also looking at getting a cnc myself.

Well my PE-R80 is in for a service and I seem to have found a guy who can fashion the little nut that was missing from the SPT bridge.

In the meantime , to make the PE-R80 feel at home when she returns , I have added a cousin........the PE-Inspire (Super Grade) It's probably the best playing guitar I have ever come across. According to the 2007 catalogue it is "from the Custom Shop" - whatever that means as it seems to be Korean - but it's gorgeous. You can tell it's largely handmade but it seems to be a step down from the PE-R80 in terms of attention to the finest details (a few finish flaws) , but from an overall aesthetic and playability point of view it's the bee's knees. I can't think of too many nicer looking axes.

Soundwise it's more a classic rock guitar I think. The Seymour Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge is more old school PAF , medium output and it's very light weight (<<7lb) gives it more of an SG sort of thing going on without a decent boost.

Pics linked below (seems impossible to embed pics as I have before) ............and yes I do realise one of the pickup rings needs repair/replace.

That's a nice looking guitar especially with the gold hardware. Congratulations.
