I just came across this fellow's channel by way of a YouTube thumbnail of a rusted out and filthy dirty PE-R60!! When I saw it, it was to weep.

How in "heck" did it ever get that way, and did they slowly remove the gonads of the purp' who did this dastardly deed?

We'll never know 'cuz they don't say. 'Cuz there's no narration at all.
Just a beautifully filmed documentation of the complete resto right down to the screws and nuts and bolts, and ending with a demo. Just shows to go ya that ya can't keep a good Mats down!

Pour a glass of your favourite beverage and watch this remarkable transformation. And find yourself saying to, um. . .yourself, "That's not the way I'd do that!" or "Geez, hadn't thought of doing it that way!"

I had one come into the shop that was in a flood, well, fell in the water. The owner wiped the body down but not the hardware/screws/fingerboard. The strings were almost rusted through, the frets were green and fuzzy, and every screw on the body of that guitar was rusted solid. Took me forever to get all the rusted screws out. Insurance covered the repairs and then some. Had it not been a 60s SG I'd have told him to hang it on the wall as a momento.

I loaned my first CS-350 to the next door neighbor (it was a cobalt blue). About three months later I dropped in to see how he was coming along with the guitar. There the guitar sat in the corner with stains all down the front of it, motor oil on the fingerboard and EVERY screw in the front was rusted all to heck. Many new chips as well. Turns out their puppy liked to pee on it and the let the little fooker and NEVER cleaned the pee off of it. The neck pickup was not salvageable but the bridge was OK after a good bath and drying. The puppy pee actually ate into the finish. Needless to say I took it back and wouldn't even loan him a paper towel after that. It took me a week but I brought it back to life with a pearlescent white finish after much sanding and chip filling. I still have it to this day. It has a set of Roswell Hot Blade pickups in it now and it once again rattles stuff off the shelves. I meant to put another couple of coats on the cavity cover but got in a rush to get it back together. Be sure to click More Pics. The knobs are one louder as they go to 11. :D

A lot of people commented on the link that the guy had purposely mucked it up for the video.
I've no idea.
