I cringe every time I hear one off or prototype. Just because it is extremely rare to see a model doesn't indicate anything other than it is extremely rare to see one. I suspect others have popped up over time and we simply missed it.

Normally prototypes do not need a serial as it is a proof of concept and not a production model. A serial would have no practical purpose in the senario.

Although I do know the Fender Jeff Beck prototypes (1990s) did have an indication on the back of the headstock indicating which of a handful of prototypes it was.

Anyway sales blurb... this is a TA model in pretty good shape from the looks of it.

The passive version of the plastic covered humbucker pickups appeared on the FS-750... a guitar that was between the PE-60 and the PE-R80... so pretty much a midrange (not high end) guitar for Matsumoku.

So if I have to make a guess... this is a TA-70 with some small modifications.
