Hi,
I have a couple of questions about the 6-way tone selector on my YS-500. Mainly i just want to understand what it does!
The rotary switch seems to have a bunch of resistors and capacitors soldered to it so i guess they just cut certain frequencies? is that right?
Also, there is some weird coil thing attached to the back of the volume pot. i've never seen anything like it in a guitar before, looks like a transformer, what does it do?
Is one of the tone selector options a bypass?
I've attached an image for reference:
Position 6 for me is the "thinnest" and quietest sound... and the tone gets "fatter" and louder towards position 1.

Has anyone ever tried any mods? like cap replacements? It seems the closer you approach position 1 the muddier the tone gets so i just wonder is there is a way to get rid of the mud?
