Ya know, I should just stop looking at the guitar ads altogether.
Now that I've moved to sunny St. Catharines, I just assumed most interesting offers would be light years away from me. And for the most part that has been true.
However...I keep stumbling over Granada branded instruments down here. I'm still kicking myself for passing up the chance to pick up an absolutely beautiful acoustic just after the new year. Going dirt cheap, but I was dirt broke.
Now I find this interesting carcass of a Granada which appears to be a late 60's or early 70's Aria 1202 or thereabouts. (
Granada was a re-branded Mats series sold in Canada mostly to music schools):

It's a pity it's missing her pickups, because they were really nice sounding IIRC. Still, a pretty straight forward restoration, EXCEPT for that bloody great hole where the tone pot was!
Looks like the dude opened it up to pull out the electronics! God knows we've seen worse in here, I remember one of Frenchy's that someone had sawed a big rectangle out of the back! But still...
IF I was to pick this up what suggestions can I get from the learned folk here as to what to do with that hole? I'm thinking about a plate of some sort. Bloody shame, right on the burst too.
Update:I contacted the owner and he's added a couple more pix. That hole looks like it was for a strat style input jack?! And we have a chip on the head stock. I'm negotiating. Dunno if I want to get into this or not.
