Hello!

I'm Leonardo and I'm from Brazil. An Aria acoustic guitar fell on my lap, and I know almost nothing about it, I've searched this model (9560) on the internet but I did not find anything but some similar guitars from the 70'. I would like to know if it is some kind of rare acoustic guitar, if it worth something and when it was manufactured.

Here are some pics of it:

I hope you can help me! Thank you!

This is a Gibson Dove clone.

These were made throughout the seventies but I couldn't find your specific model reference number so it's possible yours was made later (perhaps in the 80's?).

Here are a few Aria catalog scans (W=Western, D=Dove, N=Natural, CH=Cherry Burst):

http://www.oldguitar.jp/catalog/ARIA/AR ... 4_0003.jpg

Someone has replaced the original machine heads (tuners) and unfortunately they've tried to install 2 sets of bass side tuners (E,A,D). The G,B,E heads are upside down to compensate. They will work, but they're awkward and don't look right.

Hey!
I will change the tuners, one has broken, could you give me an advice about which one should I pick? These current tuners also look awkward to me.

This is a good quality guitar which deserves a good quality set of tuners.

You appear to have a good set of Schaller tuners on there. These are a reputable brand, and you could replace them with another set if you wish.

Gotoh is another top brand and commonly used. You might also consider Waverly which is an open gear style and often used on acoustic guitars.

You cannot go wrong with any of these brands and you only need to choose the colour knob and metal finish you prefer.
I don't particularly like the black housing on the back of your current tuners, I think a plain metal finish would be more attractive on this guitar.

One more consideration: To reduce the number of screw holes in the head stock you should choose a tuner mounting which matches the current hole pattern.

Thank you very much for all of these information, you're being very helpful.

The screw holes are bothering me. What's the standard kind of tuners this guitar uses? I want to make it looks more original as possible.

Difficult to tell. The originals were likely a covered gear style, some model years may have used an open gear style.

At this point all I can suggest is to remove the present set and try to determine what the original hole pattern was. Then choose a design to match.

You will still have a few extra holes made by the installation of these tuners. It's up to you if you want to then fill them and re-colour.

Hard to beat a Gotoh.

I heard your advices, yesterday I installed a set of Gotoh (Kluson Style) tuners. They're astonishing, they work very well and gave the guitar a wonderful and vintage appearance.

Thank you again!

Excellent!
Kluson style should look very proper on this guitar.
