Hi,
I have a 12 string ARIA AW200T with a serial number 8712027

Is this a Matsumoku guitar, as I read online that these guitars were made from 1987 to 2002, with guitars from 1987 up to March 1988 being made in Matsumoku?

Any help appreciated.

Honestly, I don't know a lot about the acoustic guitars but I believe Matsumoku closed its doors in '87. I doubt anything new would have started there knowing the cost saving measures they were already employing.
I could be wrong. :blush:

Matsumoku closed shop at the end of February of 1987. There was a brief period of manufacture in Korea using some Mats made parts, but these would have been mainly solid body electric models. I rather doubt that Mats acoustics would have been built in that time period.

If your serial number follows what we believe was the format for 7-digit numbering on Westone Guitars, your guitar would have been made in 1988, probably in July. (first digit is the year).
