66 Aria UC-2.
Man thats in good nick.
Youtube of the Univox version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFTwGqnzSrc

Trevor - can you share what it is that convinced you it's a '66?

I'm thinking it's quite rare, especially in this condition. The only ones I can find on the web are UV versions, no Arias anywhere. How much would you say it's worth (hard case with original key included + full luthier tuneup completed)? I've seen UV versions in bad condition go for 800-900$. I'm thinking about 1400$ for this one.

Cheers

The only thing "rare" about this is the condition. You don't see any because these were bought as kids guitars and very few survived. No "real" guitar player would have been caught dead with one of these. Remember, this guitar probably sold new for about $150. They're "cool" now because of people like us.
It is nice and it is cool but it aint $1000.
$250 - $350 is a good price.

Thanks for the insight. I put it up for sale locally and I'm being challenged by some folks that Aria never made UC-2's. My understanding is that Aria and Univox both made them but it's hard to find documentation on the Aria versions. A little confused now.

Wow, I didn't think that sounded ugly when I posted it. I apologize, I did NOT intend that to sound ugly at all.
My intent was only to point out that these were frowned upon by "real" guitar players back in the day and not to get your hopes up in selling it.
I honestly hope you get what you want for it.
Sadly, we don't have more information but I don't understand anyone disputing the originality of this guitar. :toopid:
I'm searching. . .

EDIT - Literally, the first thing I found: https://reverb.com/item/3283274-vintage ... nivox-uc-2

I saw the local for sale add for 1500$ :-? Bit much... :-?

All the Univox models from the 60`s till 72 were also available under the Aria brand and other brands aswell … If you dig on the internet, catalogs for Aria in the 60s are available. This model would have been available till 72 also.

The guitar in is amazing shape for its age. Its a pity you don't have the original pick ups on the guitar. Collectors wise, less valuable since not 100% original.

I`m with Jorg on with the 250 to 300 price tag.

How does it play ? Do you like it ?

Something does not jive with this guitar...

After looking in my files, no UC (2 or 3 model) ever had a white pickguard on a white instrument. The white pickguard was available on the sunburst models or the black models. The white guitars have a black pickguards and white pick ups... I even verified for the Howard brand of guitars and its all the same.

Was this guitar repainted ?

I'm finding the same. Have you pulled the pickguard? I'm curious about a few things...

EDIT - I found 2 nice Univox models on the GC website for $350 and $500. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Univo ... -Guitar.gc
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Univo ... -Guitar.gc

Notice how the sunburst follows the contours and not the body shape? This is usually indicative of plywood body.
