I just found this baby this morning. On recent post from Racing, he talked about how dirty some of these are when found.... This one is a perfect example... Have a look at how abused and dirty this baby is! :toopid: Who would do such a thing....

I have certain rules that I go by, no instrument or equipment walk in the door without being cleaned first. I made an exception with this one to show you the before pics... This is by far not the worst that i've bought, the worst was my Westone Thunder 1A that I had to wash 3 times with a hard brush.... It had everything on it from dried out jam to spaghetti sauce along with 30 years of nicotine coating that was thicker then the finish......

Off hand I'd say a J200.

she's not bad under all that dirt. first time I see this model.
she now needs new keys, strings and string holders...

Barry, quick question.. Would you use Meguiars Ultimate Compound on a acoustic?

Put it this way Pierre, I used it on my '64 Gibson! No worries, as long as you have some finish there to work with. It's an extremely fine abrasive compound and doesn't rip through the finish the way some rubbing com[pounds can. The added benefit is that you can also use it on the plastic pick guard. It'll remove or reduce any scratches and swirls and put a nice shine back on that puppy!

I'd also recommend a good coat of wax afterward for protection. I normally use liquid Turtle Wax, but occasionally I also use Trewax Clear (paste floor wax). I used the Trewax on my Vantage AV310 resto, over Tung Oil, just to be safe, and on my recent Vintage Lemon Drop LP purchase to protect the flame maple cap which was very dry from hanging on the wall for a long time in the store. Everything else is Turtle Wax. :P

In areas where you already have lots of finish the Meguiar's might be all you need as it leaves a very smooth mirror finish. Again, I recommend you use a foam rubber pad to apply it. It works better and faster than cloth.

i stop counting long ago  this guitar was real cheap and in bad shape. It was original and no top pull on the bridge whatsoever. Just another piece to practice my skills at restoring.

Right. Just go gently with a light touch rather than "scrubbing" it. Let the compound do the work and all should go well.
