Welcome to the Uncle Matt madness!

with the first digit being a 1 that's going to be an 81.

Sadly it's unknown how long many of the Vantage models existed as there are few catalogs out there. Normally catalogs give some idea when a model was introduced and then discontinued going by the first catalog they appeared in and the first catalog they were no longer offered.

As long as it's in good condition and the price isn't unduly inflated I don't think you can go wrong.

OK so I now own a FV575 VOODOO and would like to know how many strap buttons these guitars came with.
This particular axe has one on each of the horns.
ALSO, could anybody help me with more detail as to what month these guitars were made available in 1981...?

I am absolutely dying with curiosity.
Anybody..??..??

N.B.

I guess I should have asked if it was normal for these FV's to come with 3 strap buttons.
From all account and inspection, including the case ( which has been worn in very nicely on the bottom where the horns would rest )
that there has been 3 identical buttons on it since it was built.
Does anyone have any feedback on this?

What month of 1981?
How many buttons stock?
......help...?

I don't know if the alternate serial number scheme applies to Vantage or not. So far it only applies to Aria Pro II. Rather that the first digit being the year the first two are the month and the third the year.

As far as the horn buttons go the dimples in the case don't necessarily indicate the horn point buttons were factory, only that they have been there for a long time. Using the bottom point would make the guitar hang a bit awkward. The only real reason it would have been factory is to protect the point but that's just a wild a guess.

Hey Crusty, thanks for the reply.
I've scoured these pages of Vantage Only (what an awesome data collection!!) and have read through the pages re: dating and serial numbers. I was hoping someone could help narrow down what month the VOODOO was introduced. The s/n is 109xxxx
The guitar came today in the mail, all packaged up well. The shipper did a nice job. It has the familiar MMK45 sound that is oh so nice.
Is there anyone you know of that's a member in here from the days way back when these would have been distributed to Canada? Montreal? Steve's Music? maybe there's more info that hasn't come to light yet.....

I am in need of two saddle screws that will fit this bridge.
Poor thing showed up missing some parts
