I was cruising Facebook Marketplace and came across this. Got it for $400 which is a fair price for this model. I know they are flogging them on eBay and Reverb (pronounce Regurge) for $600 or better. I haven't looked inside but outwardly it is very clean. Practically no fret wear and very few scratches or dings. It did come with the original hard shell case as well. I don't think I did that bad. Now to get her cleaned up and set up. I don't think the intonation was ever set because the saddles are all even with each other in a straight line.

FANTASTIC!!
I believe I first saw these in a brochure about 1979 or 1980. Wanted one ever since.
You know, you could send it to me and I'll take care of that setup. . . :devil2:

Sorry Charlie. Nice try. ;-) It's all set up.

The PO filed the low E slot on the saddle a bit too far but I think I can fix that with a couple/three drops of cyanoacrylate and a little shaping. It's a 1980. With that neck through it is a sustain monster. The pickups remind me of DiMarzio Super Distortions. Very bright. These were underappreciated instruments. The tuners are top notch with the collars to adjust knob tension. The action is already pretty low but I think I can lower it a tad more, I'll just have to go back through the intonation afterwards.

I was thinking they may be 45s but, I reckon they could be SDs.
Either way, what a score!!

This is when it started for me...

Swee-e-e-t!

I have the little brother to this, a 1980 VS-600 (bolt on), and a 1981 VP-710 (set neck). Both are as smooth as whale snot to play. They have about the lowest action in my herd, just amazing how these babies set up.

Looks like yer on a tear! Having a GAS attack are we? :D
