Any help is appreciated. Wonderful site. I have picked up this Vantage Strat style guitar that needs some work. I cannot locate any numbering outside of the rear of the pots. I do not think this is a Japanese model due to the plywood-ish body and thinner bridge, but I am unsure. Is there a way of identifying voa metal based pickups or the 5-way switch with a spring? Ty again for any ID help.

Pictures are the most helpful tool to identify your guitar.

You're right, the logo style and general build definitely make this a post-Matsumoku guitar.

Whether it's an MIK or later build though I'm not sure. :dunno:
It's hard to tell the build quality from its current state, but it does have metal plates on the pickup bottoms and a brass nut which indicate a better product than what came later. The wiring also looks to be of good quality.

Thank you! The tuners seem to be upgraded or initially a better quality than the squarish covered tuners. I have some repair parts coming in and hope to keep the original pickups. Another site showed some similarity to Maxon single coils, unsure though. Ty again!

They could quite possibly be Maxons. How do they sound, have you tried them out yet?

I havent! I am waiting on a Weds deliver of pickup covers and a pickguard. You cant really tell from the image, but someone used black marker and colored the top of the pickups black. They look terrible in person, they also damaged the knobs with markers. I hope to get a good test by Weds Thursday!
