Received a 1984 VE-565 this week and I love this one.
It sounds great clean or dirty, is comfortable to play and is a looker.
Very well made.
Pickups, pots and knobs are not original.
I don't know if the bridge and tailpiece are original, maybe
someone would know.
Maybe we're only in the Honeymoon phase but I'm in love! :loon:

Very NICE!
I have a lower model and it's absolutely BAD. :rockwoot:
I can't think of anything I'd trade it for, except MAYBE a '62 Ferarri. . .

I just had my solid body "Entertainar" out on rotation and I agree that these models are just a treat to play.
But I too would love to get my arthritic fingers on a 565. That's gotta sound fantastic.

That 565 looks to be a solid body as well. Look at the pics of the F holes closely, they're about an inch deep just like mine.

Mine looks exactly like the 545 here but its a bolt neck.

As a matter of fact, this IS my guitar before I bought it. It no longer has the truss rod cover, tuners or bridge saddles that you see in the pics.

Thanks for replies. Jorg it is a solid body weighing about 8 1/2 lbs

I suppose the inlays are mother of pearl because as one picture shows the 17th fret inlay has
a pink hue.

Anyone know if this guitar is finished in lacquer?

It's possible but I doubt it.
Mats used a catalyzed polyurethane (polyester?) on the majority of its instruments resulting in their tough, hard as nails, reputation.

My guess: there could be a catalyzed lacquer finish on the high end hollow body "jazz" models?? Don't know for sure. :dunno:

Thanks Barry. Someday I'll get some Acetone and test a small hidden spot.

Another thing for anyone reading this thread in the future and needs a case, I've found that the 565 fits snugly in an an SG case.
