Here is that Vantage catalog corsair sent in.
http://members.dslextreme.com/users/jb007/vantage_cat/

If anyone knows approximately what date it is please let me know.
The label on the front cover seems to have fallen off.

Note:
The description is behind the picture of each guitar or on the next scan.
That is how the catalog was printed.
The description next to each guitar is from the previous pic.

In other words, to minimize confusion match the model number
to the description on the next page.

I'll put up the full 600dpi scans later in case you want them.
There are 22 pics in .jpg format totaling 166Mb.

Thanks corsair.

Update:
Re-reading correspondence, corsair mentions he bought his VA900 in 1980
which is around when he got the catalog. So that should put it close to that year.

Hiya, guys! Gee, it's good to see that catalogue up for interested people to browse! From memory, hazy at best!!, the sticker was gold leaf with black writing and was from the shop in Melbourne, Australia where I bought the VA. I do like the look of the Avenger series, but have yet to actually set eyes on another Vantage in New Zealand, Japanese OR Korean! Which begs the question; why on earth did I keep the catalogue for 20+ years, and a dozen shifts through 3 countries??? Kismet!? Anyway, enjoy it!!

Yeah !!

Thank you for scanning !

The best Vantage catalog for the moment....

There is some errors about woods used in the VP line: they says mahogany for neck instead of maple and mahogany for body instead of ash !

I think also that it is a 1979 or 1980 catalog since I have the same Vantage VA900 from 1980 according to the serial number! And two same VP795 from 1981 & 1982

But I have also two Vantage Neck-Though of 1978 that aren't on this catalog:
- VANTAGE VA800
Image Image

- VANTAGE VA800
Image Image

But they are on this catalog (except that they says that have 22 frets instead of 24 frets):
http://www.matsumoku.org/models/vantage ... og_th.html
So this catalog is from 1978 or 1979, in a chronological order this catalog was published before the new catalog from Corsair...

Tipiak,

Is that a neck thru model? Cool guitar.

Looks just like my VS650 but mine is a bolt on neck.

Vantage is such a cool guitar. Very satisfying.

Verrry interesting,

In looking thru Corsair's fine catalog I noticed that it lists some guitars as having long scale that I thought were short scale. They are listed as 630?, 650? on the spec sheet:

http://www.matsumoku.org/models/vantage/vs/vs.html

My first Vantage is a blue VS600. According to Corsair's catalog it is "California Blue", part of the Rainbow"series and has a 25 1/2" ( 650 scale) .

So I measured it and it is a long scale 650. Then I measured my VS-650 and my VP-835 and they are short scale 630.

Looks like the string thru vantages are long scale, while the non-string thry ABR! bridge is short scale.

This would explain why my blue VS-600 kicks such serious a**. Best $89 Bucks I spent.

Dan

Tipiak, one thing you will soon realize is the Vantage of the Japanese years are ther LEAST consistent of all the labels we discuss here. Many models not only changed from year to year but even from run to run, and some specs were different for different distributors.

Charlie Brown has nothing on the decision makers (or lack of) at Vantage back then. :)

Yes but I have looked at all he Vantgae guitars that are on this forum and the Vantage guitars that I have, and whith this you have an overall overview of the evolution of the Vantage line and that's why I say that this catalog is from 1979 or 1980 and the "Circa 1980 Vantage Catalog" xas published before 1980... EVEN if there is the some minor changes !!
