Nothing positive on that logo from here. Never seen it before, don't know nothing about it. If you have a good feeling about it, and it ain't too expensive ... aquire it, and educate us! :)

Bringing this thread back up because I found another one of these for sale nearby (unfortunately a ferry ride away, so not easy to go and see). Seller wants $400 with a HSC

Anyone have any further clues as to whether these are Uncle Mat or not?

Hey thanks Marcel!
I knew I had seen this logo before, so we now know that it's not a "one off" or fake.
I'm still thinking this may be peculiar to Canada, like the El Degas white label brand, and maybe a precursor to what we think of as the Matsumoku era.

Feels 70's Japanese vintage to me, and as I mentioned elsewhere, if it's as well made as many of those 70's LP clones it should be a good 'un!

$400?! Don't think so, but then again...I've seen similar El Degas's go for up to $500!
I contacted the seller again but he hasn't responded.

I'm getting really interested in these... but $400 is way too much in my mind... I would go 200-250$ max...

If one shows up on my side of the country, would pick it up of curiousity....

I'm telling ya, it reminds me alot of my Global and I wouldn't give $2.50 for another one. Does anyone have close up pics?

Ah, the debate continues...
This will either turn out to be a glorious find and an addition to the historical legacy...or a total piece o' poo.

Still no response from my seller so I can't followup. :evilrazz:

Actually, it's sentimental value far outweighs most of my guitars combined.

I believe I can fix it and will probably attack it in earnest pretty soon.
Even then, I wouldn't pay much for another one like it.
