Are these models MIJ or Samic period?

Welcome here, Johan Arne ... I would like to see that flyer (Mozart would too, I bet). Could you scan it for us please? My first thought is 'Korean', but could be 1986/87 Mats, or even 1987 other Japanese Manufacturer (Chushin Gaki?)!

Hey, you guys..
Right now on ebay there's a Vantage Avenger X-35 for sale. It has Serial # 4020116, 2x Humpack (looks like AV-325) and Avenger headpeice with 'X-35' on it. Is this a real Vantage MIJ or just some bits and pieces put together?? Never heard of X-35 before..

First of all welcome! And thanks for your contribution to the Vantage mystery hour!

The late Mat years are the most mysterious part of the VANTAGE history.
From the momentary knowledge of this forum's members it's hard to tell if one of the late Avengers or X-series guitars is Mat or Non-Mat!

@ Late "Born to rock catalog":
I've had a look on it, and I'm not sure if it's late Matsumoku(1986/87)/ Chushin JAP or early Samick (1989-92).
I tend to say 1986, but that's just a guess, based on the position of the fretboard dots, the signs on the pups and some other indications.

Let's show it to class, Kees and Joaran!
Any other opinions welcome!

From what I can read under the guitar pics of this cat there's been X 33, 38, 77 and 99 models only.
X-35?
Why not!? Pre catalog model? Pre series model?...........
Are you sure the serial's first digit is 4 ? Hard to read.....

The X-35 looks to be a Mat made Vantage....

Still lots to learn from the 84-85 years....For example, why does my X-99B have the 2X2 headstock and in the catalog it has an Avenger headstock...

...and the X-35 looks to have a more rounded edge to the body, and a nicer bridge. I want one.

I have a Avenger X-35, still I'm playing it on the stage. A great Guitar, easy to play and wonderfull to, pretty sound! I use it mostly on a Fender Hot Rod, or a Vox DA Amp. I bought it in 84 and saw that guitar at the Music Fair in Frankfurt. I loved it immediately. The X-35 was expensive. I think it was something about 850,00 DM, today approximately 430,00 EUR. At that time the Fender Stratocaster Squier was cheaper and even Epiphone Les Paus was less the Price. But that Guitar was well builded. I even gave it sometimes to some Kiddy Friends for trying to play E-Guitar. Now I learned a lot about live and what other People doing with my stuff. I never would give it to anybody.

Great Guitar! If I see one, I would buy it immediately and I wouldn't care about the Price. My Frets are going nearly worn out, but the Guitar ownself is still great, some Ding Dongs thats all. I will find a bit time to send some Pics.

History updated! I've added some missing Matsumoku made models: X-33, X-35, X-99, X-99B, FV588!
The 1984 X-Series models exist in 2 variants: with 4xxxxxx Matsumoku serials, and with letter prefix serials and Omega Pups (Chushin?)
The FV588 is a Flying V in sunburst: hard to date

Don't know what to do with the Canadian V-100 model: A "70ies" sunburst LP copy with "Open Book-Headstock" and strange Logo!?

Hi,

New member here. My first electric guitar was a Vantage LP with a bolt-on neck. I guess it was a V-100 model. Unfortunately, I don't have the guitar any more but I do have a photo. I am reasonably certain that I got it in 1979 -brand new in Saskatoon Sask. Canada. I recall that it came stock with Dimarzio Super II pickups. Not sure if this helps with your info. or not.
