Do we have ser.nos of the VP-795?

Way ahead of you... I verified all the info and pictures that I collected so far, all the VP-795 are 81 based on my data.... Does not mean a 1980 wont show up to mix things up!

Doesn't mix up things Frenchy - at least for me.
Just strengthens my theory:
The VP-795 is a "1981" model, like the VA900 and all the other models of Corsair's catalogue.
This Catalogue must have been published in late 1980, and most of it's introduced guitar models were available in late 1980 too!
It's just the well known "present and sell next years models before christmas business".
I'm selling bycicles at my sport shop. If you want to, you can have some 2011 models NOW! But I'm afraid, you're more addicted to guitars...... :D

This (published late '80) 1981 catalogue has been valid for 2 years! With the (published late '82) 1983 "Born to Rock" catalogue the next changes took place, like the smaller "V".
AND: some/most/all of the "1983"-cat models were available in (the second half of) 1982 .

@Kees: The Missing of a ("published late'81")"1982"-catalogue doesn't mean that there were no new models in 1982. In my opinion, they just didn't have enough news for a new 1982 cat.
An exception: Your "Standards": 1982 models, introduced late '81 or in 1982 (like yours)

Waiting for the next upcoming model that doesn't fit anywhere....... :D
cheers, J.

My VS-695-12 is an '82, and the body carving is slightly different from another I've seen here on this site. I'll look into those differences and what year that other guitar was...

Nice work!

OK, mine's a blue '82, so is Frenchy's, and they have more squared-off edges on the back. Darby's is also an '82 blue, and has rounded edges.

Thank's for taking the time to compare. Would you mind having a look at this one from 83? (was sold last year on Ebay)

Your opinion and conclusion would be greatly be appreciated!

Rounded back edges, like Darby's '82. Inneresting. We should look at sequence #s, mine is 2050423, I'll go look for Darby's. This '83 is 3080664.

Vantage has grabbed necks & bridges from previous years, I wouldnt put it past them to grab one of last year's leftover neck plates.

And there's still this other mystery-model:

As far as I can see from the enlarged pic, Snr starts with '00', so 1980. But we don't even know the name or type! :loon:

That's even more interesting, I thought yours was an '82. Yours does have the squared-edge on the back, or no?

Seems so. I had a hard time understanding your comment to Darby the first time around , when I look at other pictures of mine in different light, mine looks like it has rounded edges and in other pictures it looks square... The reason why I posted the other pics since was not certain which is which. Is it possible that Darby's looks round due to the light? Here is an example of mine in 2 different pose:

What do you think?
