Wel-l-l-l-l! :yeah:
Will Inspector Kees crack this case?
Will the true distribution history of Vantage be revealed?

Will Mozart meander majestically through the morass of magazines and discover more magic?
And will we find out once and for all, the secret to the design and production puzzles that is the year 1980?

Stay tuned, as the Mats Mystery Hour continues....after these brief messages. :hyper:

Go, you crazy detective boys. Go! :rockwoot:

No! I'm afraid I've lost my bearings! Some of the magazines I can't find again because of large heaps of new old stock VANTAGES lyin' around everywhere at my house. :P :P :P

Contact has been made :)
Mr. Robinson's reply was very friendly:
"Dear Kees, Thank you for your e.mail. I can tell you a lot about the Vantage history, so if you have questions, please let me know.In the meantime I do have a marketing booklet which lists the models and the specifications. If you would like this please let me have an address .
Regards
Peter Robinson"

So, I should have some new documentation available soon.
for now, I've asked the man about two 'mystery Vantages', the El Maya-like neck-thru strat ( viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5363&hilit=el+maya+long+lost&start=10#p31326 )and the Peavy T60 lookalike with the rail PU's ( viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4407#p24327 ).

If anyone else has a question to ask this former importer of Vantage for the UK ... fire away! I'll gladly pass it on!

Kewl!
Let's hope the "marketing booklet" is more than just an advertising flyer. It would be great if there was some new information there!
Thanks Kees.

I'd like to know WHEN the first Vantage guitars started to hit the british stores, and which models.
Furthermore it would be of great help to get informations on eventually missing catalogues (early '79 ?, late '83 ?).

keep us posted Kees :hyper:

Documentation from UK is on its way here. I'll be getting answers to our questions later this week, Mr. Robinson said. I've emailed your 'brief history' too, for him to check.
