Hi there Vantage fans,

I was going to replace the strap buttons on my VS600 - I think I may have one original (bottom as pictured), and I'm guessing the other one on the horn is a replacement (looks more like a barrel or Fender style - also based on the - gasp - ROBERTSON galvanized screw holding it in place). Here is a picture of the one that I think is original.

Note original colour was black, but now you can see the brass waering through.

Any ideas re source for a replacement? I picked a couple up that I think will look cool, but thought I would try to go with something closer to NOS if I can get it.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Cheers,
Kevin

I've got a load of OEM Vantage buttons here (I've removed them from at least six of my Vantages), including a VS600B. I usually just replace them with some flavor of StrapLocks.

If you're stuck on OEM, send me a PM & we'll work out a way to send some your way.

Thanks Squid, I appreciate it - I'll send you a PM as soon as I figure out how!

Thanks Jorg, I'm actually getting rid of most of my locking-type setups on my guitars, as I just prefer the aesthetic of the original buttons. Besides, I don't really jump around enough these days to feel that I might actually have the strap fall off - I'm more likely to hurt myself before that happens!
As always, thanks for the help guys, it's much appreciated!

I usually use strap locks but have one guitar with a plastic lock that goes over the original button. Works well and was cheap. I think I got it from StewMac.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, one that I can share but not take credit for inventing is what I call the "Grolsch" method.

1. Buy two bottles of Grolsch beer - the kind with the flip-top.
2. Open the bottles, and remove the rubber gaskets.
3. Put your guitar strap on as usual.
4. Take the rubber gaskets and stretch them over the buttons.
5. Drink the beer. :hyper:
6. Play guitar!

I believe I originally found that one on the forum for another guitar company whose name starts with F, but I can tell you, I've tried it and it works! The beer was good too.

Cheers,

Kevin

:D I'll take orders for the gaskets, but I'll dispose of the beer properly myself. (Grolsch is from down here ...) :P
