Today i bought my first (and i hope not least Vantage), i played mostly in my floyd rose equipped superstrats before (Jackson soloists,Dk1, etc..),
so i decided to buy a guitar with fixed bridge, cause it's make the tune down more easier.
I choose a Vantage mystic, but i can't beleive i got this outstanding guitar only for 350 $. It's truly a gem.
So i put my Soloist in her case, and le't the Vantage sing :)
Maybe somebody can help me dating my new baby, the serial number is 71788.
The seller said it's made in the late 70's, i hope somebody here can give me the exact date of the manufacture.
Thanks in advance the help!

Welcome to the board!

Any chance you can post pictures of your new baby!?!

As for the year, we have not yet determined 100% if Vantage hit retail in 79 or 80.... I believe 79 for Canada but could be wrong... the wife sz I am always wrong so... :P

P. :D

Doesn't matter what you do Pierre, they are wired from birth to say that. :toopid:

To be more precise on the dating Csaba, we know that the new logo (like on yours) only came out mid 1980 and that your model was not part of the 1982 offerings, I would clearly put yours late 80 beg of 81... We still have not figured out the serial # on the early models like yours... the newer 1980 and up have the serial indicating year of production but not the original offered models..

Hope this helps...

Now...

I still want pictures.... :hyper:

Only two minor lacquer damage, one on the back, and one at the jack area, pretty easily repairable.
But the original Vantage case looks like, something wich buried in the ground for 30 years (the leather came down so many places, and the fasteners cames out) :D
So i need a new case, this guitar deserves it.

Welcome Csaba! That looks like one lovely VP700 you've got there ... mine are 72094 and 72095, so yours is slightly older. I'll go with Frenchy on this one, and say late 1980, early '81 too. Judging by your comments, she got you hooked already  Hope you'll get the chance to experience a VA (800-24 'Phantom' or even a 900 'Devil') soon too. Then you'll be lost forever  .
Where are you at? (Don't say 'Canada', we already have plenty of canucks by now :P )
