Hi, I discovered your forum yesterday and have spent a few enjoyable hours reading through a number of topics- I appreciate all the research and hard work you guys have put in!
I have owned a couple of Vantage guitars since new, both of them bought in mid 1986 in Queensland, Australia from a local music store.
One is a VA-12DK 12 string acoustic- with pickup/preamp/equalizer added by me about 7 years ago, I still enjoy playing this guitar regularly.
Its brace and serial numbers are: BN-850106/SN-85010452
The second is an unknown model Vantage bass guitar (I didn't really take notice of the model number when I initially purchased the bass)
It is an original Salmon Pink colour- however I am thinking of stipping it back and re-spraying in a diiferent colour one day when I get the time.
It appears to be similar to a V325 6 string shown here: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=6751
It's serial number is: E612994 and after removing the neck I found that the numbers written there are barely readable- so any help identifying it would be great!
Here are some photos of the 12 string, I will post some more photos in a follow up post, also more photos can be viewed here: http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz31 ... 0Acoustic/
and here: http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz31 ... %20Guitar/
Thanks again, Eddie.

Hi there... I'm sure one or two of our resident Vantage loonies will be along shortly to shed light on these, but if you're still in Queensland, one of said loonies lives there and is a pretty good bloke!! :D

Welcome here, EddieV! That 12-string of yours looks great. I'm having trouble ID'ing the bass, could be an Avenger or X-Series from around 1984/85, but I can't say which model exactly ... looks like an early Korean 325B to me ...
Wait ... Frenchy? Didn't you pick up a similar bass a while ago? 'VT60B'? Does yours have Snr# starting with an 'E' too?

Hi EddieV
Welcome to the nut house.
Are you still in QLD or have you moved on since the 80s?

At first I thought it might be from the X Series as well.
But when you look at the bottom horn something is not right.
Looks to be to rounded.
So it just might be one of the first non Mat Vantage guitars to make it to Australia.
Or it could just be one that we don't know about yet.

Cheers

Hi, thanks for your replys, and yes Don, I am still in Toowoomba, Qld. (I have lived here most of my life!)
From what I can tell, the markings on the neck of the bass begin with 'V-32' and then what looks like a '+', 'x' or a 't' and then either a 'B' or '13'
If you have a look at the photos here: http://s839.photobucket.com/albums/zz31 ... %20Guitar/ you can see the photos at a higer resolution.
Thanks,
Eddie.

Good old Woomba. I spent the first half of the 80's there (I think :toopid: :loon: )
I was there Monday/Tuesday last week. I seem to get there pretty often these days.
Feel free to shoot me your phone number if you feel like having a chat.

Now back to the Bass.
I think it might not be a Mat.
Just by the lack of MIJ on the neck plate.
I have the odd one or two MIJ Vantages and they all have the MIJ stamped onto the neck plate.

Cheers

That makes sense: V-32+13 could very well be V-325B. Samick did continue a couple of Avenger-like models for a while. As Don said: the body shape doesn't match the Mat-made models ...
