Woo hoo... the guitar gods must be smiling at me I have an Avenger 310 sat on the workbench beside the AV395 so there's my next project; a big thank you to Don, who was sending me the tools to do a small job on a Westone stringlock, when this whacking great box arrives on the doorstep!!

The guitar is in a tatty state, but it's all there and has an MMK45 up front; my feeling is that it will scrub up quite nicely with minimal effort.... the machine heads are rooted and I have a set of Westone Pantera machines which I may whack in, but I may also get a set to directly replace the ones that came off.

Now, I'm canvassing opinions on the finish; what do you lads think I should do with it? I'm leaning towards a solid finish perhaps a blueburst - blue over silver - or, and I'm leaning hard this way, an ANZAC finish of some sort. For those not Aussie or Kiwi, this name conjures up some pretty serious collective memories and given that I'm a NZer and Don's an Aussie, it seems a way forward. My father flew fighters in the South West Pacific during WWII with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and had quite a lot to do with the Australian Army and Air Force in theatre, so there's that going on as well... it'd have to be tasteful and non-garish to work, I reckon...

Anyway.... what can you guys come up with??

Here we go; on the bench with it's cobber...

Sorry about the links; there's something weird going on with Photobucket and I can't post the photos like I normally would....

Gee now how did that happen? I gave the child bride orders to pack the thread repair stuff up and send it off to John. Simple orders or so I thought. I should have known something was going on when she walked out the door with a whopping great box under her arm. I thought she was kidding when she said she was thinking about getting rid of some junk from the front room. I will need to have a stern word with her :argue: about calling my guitars junk. I guess it's too late to ask for it back so you might as well just go ahead and do what you want with the old girl.
Cheers and I hope you enjoy the old girl

That's quite likely to be a diamond in the rough. Similar to my Fly Ashtray & Squid Head, but yours has the truss at the headstock (and yet it has 22 frets...there's just an endless array of configurations to this model). The Fly Ashtray did the same thing with the output jack.

It's gonna be interesting, but it's gonna rip once it's all back together. Have fun with it!

Gee, that's pretty, Barry... what's the bridge?

Squid; I'm quite sure it's a diamond in the rough, but it'll scrub up and be real purty with a little elbow grease.... :D

Bridge looks similar to the hard-tail top-load Fender Squier Bullet bridge I used on my AV325 project.
