Well 426-159 = 267, and counting, if sequential. I believe the serial number on the other skylark models also start with 106, which stands to reason. I finally got around to utilizing the webspace provided by my ISP, so check out the grain on this one:MY 2588

It's also a possibility the serials were different for the 3 different models. It's something else to look into anyway.

The serial number on my Skylark is 106154. I was wondering what the most some one would be willing to pay for one that is in great condition?

Hmmm. That's not fishiing I hope. That would be likened to walking on thin ice over fast moving water.

Anything over $400 for any of the models would be borderline foolishness in my opinion, but there again, there are more people with less sense than cents these days so I guess anything is possible. :loon:

I bought my 2588 for $230, and sold it for just that to someone here. Sure, I could have pushed for more and probably got it but my passion is focused on the guitars. Seeing it find a good home was what I was hoping for and I think that's exactly what happened.

Hi peeps. I bought my skylark from a pawn shop in Michigan for $150.00 back in 1988. I still own this guitar and have played many gigs with it. It is one of the most versatile instruments I have ever owned and will never part with it. To change your theory on serial numbers, mine is 105093. It is a model 2588.

Beam me up scottyscott

You done good even in 1988's economy conditions.

Let me guess, its blue, and has more switches than the Enterprise.
Looks like you got the better of the 3 models with all the bells and whistles.

I was fortunate to have been coherent when AP2 put one up for sale.
This mutha is built like a tank. A solid battle axe.

Once you get familiar with all the options you can dial in any sound you want.

I dig that it is a 25-1/2" scale with 24 frets.
I have orangutan length arms and feel like a freak with anything smaller.

I'm guessing you have a 1981 model as per serial 105093.
Going by all the serials mentioned in this thread, I think the whole run was
done in 81. Using the theory of first number in serial is last number in year.

More info plus a scan of the 81 JC Penney Catalog here.
