ANOTHER UPDATE:

Well. the weather finally broke this weekend, the big news being that the humidity finally dropped to non-tropical levels !

So....I was able to get my sealer and color coats on yesterday, and am starting to apply the first few coats of clear today.

I wound up using "vintage amber" from Stew Mac and am really pleased with the color, it's more or less exactly how I envisioned it. I was able to go slightly "heavier" on the lighter color grain, so was able to even out the tone a bit.

A few mis-steps along the way, but nothing I'm going to lose any sleep over.

( the pic is after the first of what will be many light clear coat passes, no sanding yet..)

:D

I'm with you on the humidity thing, man it's been brutal even up here. Absolutely relentless this summer, along with high temperatures. My Urchin project has been stalled out as well.

But I'm liking that amber Scott! What's the plan, shiny or matte (as opposed to MAT) final finish?
Love those pink panties too!

Playing that one by ear. Shooting for a "medium" shine I suppose-more than matte, less than glass. :)

(Whatever I end up with that's what I wanted all along. It's my new mantra.....)

That's what my cats say when they do something dumb, like miss the table when they jump, and fall on the floor...they look at you and say, "I meant to do that!"

Oh wow! That looks great! Really suits it.

Having been to northern US and Canada, the humidity is quite noticeable, so finding the right day to do coatings would have been difficult alrighty.

More pics as the beast unfolds please!

Hey guys, digressing slightly; get onto this, for a laugh. If you like the site don't 'blow my cover' as being one of the protagonists. The idea is (obviously) a piss-take to go anonymously viral on the net. Hope you might get a chuckle.
