Looks like a rebadged Aria 5120 to me:

Looks good from the Ebay pics - post some more when you get it. :)

Jon.

Very Cool, nice catch. I have an Epiphone EA- 260 which is essentially the same bass, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It holds a unique place amoung it's bass brothers and sounds like no other. ( watch out for the feedback, though.....) The Sunburst is great - hold on to it.

Best info I have on mine would indicate a "born on" date of 1970 -71.

BTW - There's plenty of room to adjust that action down and make it a real player !

Cheers,
Scott

not to be nosy, but how many $$$$ ?

Thanks. The only info I've been able to get is it was made in the same Matsumoku factory that made the Univox and the Arai (SP). I've already tweaked the action but on the hollowbody basses I like the action a bit higher so I can dig in more. I got it on ebay for $349

I'd say $349 is a fair deal - have seen the Epi version go for $500 or more.

Dig in, indeed. and enjoy ! :D

So I took it to the local open mic blues jam and it just killed. Super fat tone. Very deep fundamental yet still articulat. Everybody there was just floored by it. Especially the young guys who'd never seen or heard of these old hollowbodies. Everybody wanted to play it, so I let them. :D They all really dug it.

I'm loving this thing

Wow, that's an awesome bass! I just picked up a Conrad model 40096 which is very similar (almost exact), but not as well kept as yours. My $50 filthy Conrad has pointed horns instead of rounded ones. Mine has pickguard holes (I think), so I'd be cool to find one and put it on.

What are your thoughts on replacing rusted screws? I'm thinking of replacing the pup screws and tailpiece screws because they're rusted and stripped. Home Depot, or should I try to use original?

I just found this forum after a long while of searching for information on my bass. Thanks for an awesome site!

Hello and Welcome twocargar

I have guitars with corroded screws and I just ignore them
unless the screw in question is needed for adjustments.

Like those saddle hex screws that get oxidized from acidic palm sweat.

I go to the hardware store and find something that does the job and looks
just like the original or close enough.

Happy shopping.

Thanks, I think that's what I'm going to do. The one that is stripped is on the tailpiece so I need to change it so I can change the strings.
