You said it had a "good weight" Pierre, does that mean "heavy"?

It's a heavy bass allright but not as heavy as some of my other ones... I need to buy myself a small pro scale to weight these...Really dont know what to make of the wood on this one, it does look like maple... but it could be something else also... All I know is that I giged her today for 3-4 hrs and was amazed at both the tone and ease it was to play her... Really digging the all maple fretboard on her, real fast and smoth action... I dont know if the pups are original but they sound awsome, real defined.... This baby has a nice smoth growl to her. Without the name on the headstock, it could really pass as an early 70's.. no wonder they had some made in Japan afterwards...

I'm loving this one  She is staying in the living room for a while.... :jammin:

P. :P

Is there a book one can get to help indentify the different types of wood?

OK, I looked at my weekly flyers and notice that Canadian Tire had this nice kitchen scale for 70% off so went and got it! Hope none of mine dont go over 12LB....

Here are the details:

Univox Jazz unknown body
10.03 lb
4.55 Kg

Fender Jazz Alder body
8.08 lb
4.00 Kg

So, not that heavy to tell the thruth... Also, my main giging bass is my Westone Super Headless and it's 100% birds eye maple and not that heavy... Will take her out to weigh her to compare...

OK, for my Westone Super Headless:

8.19 lb
3.71 Kg

Not bad for an all maple bass! I know that some will say "Hey, no headstock on that baby" but let me assure you that the headstock will not be 1 Kg and the the heavy bridge does make up for some of that weight...

Great, now I will have to start weight all my instruments...
