I recently acquired this Lyle Explorer copy. Haven't been able to find a whole lot of anything about it.

It's not in aweful shape, but it could use a little work. The bridge is cracked. My main question is whether or not anyone has any idea what this thing is worth. I'd rather not update/modify this thing if there's any significant value in it. If it's only worth a couple hundred bucks or so then I won't feel so bad swapping stuff around. :D

Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.

In any case, that's a cool guitar. Image-building-wise, the slippers aren't doing much good :P

My image is cool enough to where it can survive posting a picture of some flip flops to unknown folks on the interwebs. Or maybe it's tarnished to the point where it doesn't matter anymore. Either way, they're a whole lot easier to slip on than shoes when taking the dog out or going outside to smoke a cigarette.

I don't think the value is going to be any higher than $250 to 300 on a very good day. That's not to say I would mind having it :)

Cool. Then I won't feel too bad putting a new bridge, tailpiece, pickguard and pickup switch on it.

It plays pretty well. Neck is a bit thicker than I'm used to, but it's not too bad. The wiring was a bit gimpy when I got it, but after I fixed that the thing came to life. I'm in love with the factory bridge pickup. Thing screams.

Exactly. I wouldn't hesitate to make it playable. Keep the original parts for the cork-sniffers should you ever decide to send it on.
That said, you can send it to me and keep the originals. . .

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass for the time being. :D

Besides, guitars are a pain to ship and whatnot.

Anyone have any idea how to date this thing? There's no visible serial # that I can find. Perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong places or something?
