Hi guys,

Snatched a Hondo II Les Paul from Ebay, hoping to find any proof, that at least some Hondos were built by Matsumoku. So I disassembled it and....nothing. Doh ! No markings, anything. So I guess I got myself a new LP project. After polishing it I will install everything new from scratch and try the original PU´s. From their looks and weights I guess they are junk. We will see !

Oliver !

that's samick build hondo, most bolt ons were made there, those with set neck are most likely matsumoku, at least the 2 DC models i owned both were equiped with mmk pu's.
what kind of pickups were in that hondo of your's.
chrome covered are almost always fake humbuckers, only one coil under that cover.
but they sound very warm and full and noiseless, only slightly microphonic, if you don't know they are fake you will never find out.
