Hi everyone, since I got so much help on my last mystery guitar I thought I would try again! Has anyone ever seen a Japanese guitar like this? Any indications who made it?

I have some more pics here:http://drowninginguitars.com/2011/12/02/1960s-unknown-strange-japanese-electric-guitar/

I've never seen anything like it!!!

Now that is cool!

The only clue that I could get was the shield style neck plate was used by Tiesco.

Hey RSBBass, thanks for commenting. Here's what I see with this guitar: Like you mentioned, that neck plate is usually only found in the years 67-68, and used by Teisco/Kawai. But you also see that plate on others, it's not exclusive to Teisco/Kawai. I have seen a neck plate like that stamped with "Teisco Gakki". The pickups look like they were copying Goya Rangemaster pickups, or maybe an early attempt at the Spectrum 5 pickups. Then the headstock, it resembles Teisco heasdstocks like the ones used on the rare Firebird and others from that period, but this one is little "stubbier" and slightly different. Again, maybe a first attempt at what was to come later. Then the inlays, those are similar to the Norma guitars that had those cool little inlaid "N". Never say inlays like this before. The trem unit is the same one seen on a bunch of Kawai guitars of the mid-late 60s. Lastly, the sliders/switches are identical to a really strange GIvtone branded guitar that was most likely Tesico/Kawai made. Now I would normally point to Kawai for this guitar, but I spoke with the guy who started that Junkguitars webpage and he seemed sure that this guitar was made by one of the smaller, unknown makers of the time. SO besides a plea for any and all opinions here on the board, does anyone have any information about the smaller guitar makers that existed in the 1960s in Japan? I really think all these Japanese makers need some recognition!

I am out of my league here and would suggest you get in touch with Lordbizzare here. He has the most incredible collection of oddball (meant in the best way) guitars I know of.

What´s more,if you stand back a little and look,is that the horns are deadringers for Urchins.
