To further the tube amp hijack...

I'm using a Peavey Encore 65, which is a single 12" all tube combo. It's a single channel amp that sort of pretends like a two channel, but I'm lovin' it. I just re-tubed it with a kit from Doug's Tubes, and I'll probably keep it until I'm too old to rock. I just got a new Digitech RP1000, which is absolutely killer so I just use the clean sound which is still very nice.

Looks like you've found a very nice guitar. I believe it's a V1002 model finished in "vivid cherry", the V1001 had a Bigsby copy tremolo

I picked up a Ventura V2000 EB2 copy a couple years ago. There is some finish cracking and I did some repair where the body was separating at the bottom. Still a nice "5 feet" bass and relatively inexpensive.

The 3-way switch activates some kind of series/parallel circuit or a capacitor to alter the tone. The pickguard and the handrest thing were gone when I got it. It was missing the bridge saddle but I had a spare that I made for an EB0 project (3/8" brass tubing cut lengthwise).

It's not quite the level of finish as your guitar, ie. unbound f-holes but it has a similar triple-bound neck
...and it's Mats.

P.S. I know it's free but is Photobucket the worst image storage site on the web ? It's a real bucket of something...

Nothing to sniff at as far as the finish on that bass goes... very clean and tasty from what I can see.

Very nice axe, Dave. Pretty unrealistic ratio of quality to price on these Ventura offerings, eh? They have become a regular addition to my seek list at all pawn shops and 2nd hand dealers whenever I get in one.

Yes Pierre, those pics in the initial post were taken after I had already brought it home.

The amp never did get delivered as the seller claimed it was in his ex's basement and he could not retrieve it, but in fairness he did refund me 60% of the price I paid as a means of an apology.

I have since that day found the strength to muddle on through despite being haunted by the possibilities of guessing "oh, what might have been... :( "

:D :D
