Hi all

I picked this guitar up yesterday for nothing but I'm having difficulty finding any info on it.

It has a Gotoh floating bridge and end piece which are really solid and certainly look the goods.

The neck plate has "Made in Japan" stamped into it and thats about all I can find. There are no serial number or markings anywhere but it looks like the name of the manufacturer was not printed on the headstock but rather on a badge that was screwed into the headstock. It has a zero fret which you can't see in the pics.

The inlays on the fretboard look and feel like pearl as there is no consistent marking like the synthetic pearl inlays on most copies I've seen.

Please help if you can

Thanks

Brett

Hi Brett, welcome here. I took the liberty of moving your posting to this section, since your LP is obviously not a Vantage. It's not a Matsumoku made guitar at all. Check out this thread: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4897&hilit=shield

It looks like a Tiesco product to me. Kawi is also possible. That is based on the shape of the neck plate and the shaping of the neck where it meets the body. Many Japanese guitar factories would supply unbranded guitars to importers, distributors and even larger music stores to brand themselves. Some put on badges that came off. Some just sold them like yours. I think this is as close as you are likely to get to an ID.

I would put money on that you might have Maxon Pups in there also... I have a White (now cream) LP with the same neckplate... Mine also has some Maxon 76 Super distortion in her...Killer sound...

Can you have a look at the bottom of the pups? if you have 5 #'s stamped on there, you got Maxon Pups...

I still have not figured out were my LP is from...Japan that is for certain but nothing more...

Lyle was another brand, not a maker. They sourced all over the place.

Yup you are right RSB. I only meant it reminded me of a Lyle but the builder could then be who knows...
