Dad's brother bought him this in 1971 at a music shop in Bellingham, WA. From internet research, it seems this one has a similar headstock and bridge as Greco and Electra EB-3s, but distinct in that it has a wood thumbpiece on the pickguard, double string grooves in the bridge saddle, and the strap button is on the neck not the body. It's also not a true humbucker pickup.

With it being similar to those brands I thought it might be a Fujigen, but there was one almost exactly like it (other than the strap button location) sold on Reverb years ago as a Matsumoku. Any idea who made it?

Your guess is as good as anyone... could have been any of the Japanese factories.

The piece of wood on the pickguard doesn't look to be original and might have been added later.
