I have a guitar I'm trying to identify, and this is what is left of the label.

It is clearly the letters u and m, and possibly an o or an e which 'could' be the 'umo' of Matsumoko if they indeed had their own labels, so I thought I'd ask you guys.

Thanks for any info.

I see I posted on a forum where the only other member online was my shadow.

Not even the admin logs in ?

Ah well.

First off, let me say welcome.
We have a few "regulars" but not a lot of traffic.
I see what you're saying about the label but I really don't know much about acoustics, especially the earlier ones.
Hopefully someone here will be able to shed some light on it.

What Jorg said...sometimes we do get lively in here.

As for the label, I've not seen a Mats label of this style that I can recall. Some Westone acoustics do have a paper label similar but not as small:

..."umo"....
Matsumoku has been one of numerous guitar producing facilities in the town of Matsumoto, the japanese center of (acoustic) musical instruments industry.
If "umo" is out of "Matsumoto" - you've at least located the birth-town of your guitar - but nothing more.

Good luck on finding more information! :)
