I'd also like to get some info on this brand. I've got an eye on an AO XXX neck-thru that the owner claims to be out of the Matsumoko works. An attractive axe and the price is right, so far...

I just found a link on a Polish blog that should shed some light on these axes. They were apparently made in Uncle Mats factory, commissioned by Clarence Griffith Winner, an American luthier, who was a close friend of Leo Fender. There were MANY different models that were/are very inexpensive. Quality is (possibly unjustified) average -depending on the model.

The one I'm looking at has two supplementary mini-switches - probably coil split and phase shift. Haven't found photos of this one other than the ones in the add.

They may very well be made by Matsumoku but they share build characteristics with no other Mat guitar that I know of. They're close but off just a little. That "lack of attention to detail" is the main reason I don't believe they are Mat.
My oldest Mat is an early '80 RS600, much like the first one here: http://matsumoku.org/models/ariaproii/rs1/rs1.html
They have a similar look/build but the details are night and day different.
While not 100%, you can generally look at a Mat, no matter the brand, and be able to tell.

I tend to lean yfour way, Jorg. However, the CG's were a design commission and a stipulation might have been "build as designed". Then again... who knows, other than someone who is still alive that worked in the factory.

There are lots of neat axes turning up on the 'bay again...
