Hey guys,

Maybe I'm blind but who was making the kramer focus 2000 from 1983? Japan yes but which? The thing is killer but has one big flaw.

Thanks!

It's probably made by ESP.

Why do you think that? While in the pawn shop looking at this guitar I saw a post somewhere saying it was matsumoku but I don't think so. Anyway, wicked guitar in case anyone is interested to know. Very nice build.

The sources I've seen indicate Kramer's Japanese instruments were made by ESP. ESP had already been making some of the necks for Kramer's American guitars when the company decided to introduce an import line.

It used to be that any Japanese guitar from the '70s or '80s would get labelled as "coming from the Ibanez factory." As Matsumoku has gotten better known amongst electric guitar fans more and more people have assumed this or that guitar was a Matsumoku product if they don't think it was an "Ibanez factory" product.

Just for the record and future searches, "Ibanez" is a trade name/white label, owned by Hoshino Gakki.

There never was an "Ibanez plant". The instruments were/are made in various locations by several manufacturers including Hoshino
