Saw this on MusicGoGrind. I asked for more pics and they uploaded them. If you open any Musicgoround image in a new tab and remove the "?" and everything after it from the URL you can view the original size of the image for more detail. Otherwise they are no more than 800 pixels in either direction and compressed.

Looks to be a Hondo II Professional circa 1980 to 1990. I suspect the truss rod cover is on backwards and probably says "Professional" on it. They also made a set neck version with a heel much like a DC Junior. Looks like a PO sanded off the logo on the headstock and did a DIY refin going on the file marks and uneven finish on the front of it. The tuners have been upgraded from covered gear to sealed which is a plus.

It is rumored that some of the Japanese Professionals were made in Japan by either Tokai or Matsumoku and later by Samick in Korea. Any truth to this?

I have no first hand knowledge but I've heard some Hondos were found loaded with MMKs. :dunno:
I had some friends that had Hondo guitars but I never really thought much about it until coming here. I will say, some of them
do look a bit Skylark-ish...

IIRC a few Hondos popped up on the Westone site with MMK45's. There is a strong suspicion Mats was involved with at least some models but I think it was never proven one way or another.

The variation in quality and model designs seems to have varied quite a lot from manufacture to manufacture.
