This is the second guitar body i've come across like this. My two best guesses were Guyatone and Matsumoku -- in that order. The first body I had constructed like this had a guyatone (or old Hoshino Gakki) style neck so i'm going under that assumption. But i know Matsumoku was big on Mahogany bodies in the 60's as well.

Its main core is two slabs of Mahogany with what appears to be a thin Mahogany veneer on both the top and the bottom....seems redundant to me.
I know someone out there knows this construction style off the top of their head . please help! thanks friends!

No idea from my side, (except that it's not a Vantage) sorry!
But what a large swimming pool cavity!! :)

Nope; not here either, although that shaped bottom gives me pause for thought... I've seen it somewhere recently.... That is a huge cavity, eh, and what is the circular mark on the upper bout; was there a pickguard or similar there??

body looks like it's "contoured" for easier arm position. The circular mark is the edge of the angle!
Not easy to see on this pic, but my eyes are 5 years younger, John!

Can't believe, a japanese plant would make copies of (cheap) italian guitars!?

Close, but not close enough?? :dunno: Dunno... and I still reckon there look to be screwholes in that line around the upper bout... but then again, my eyes are 5 years older than yours!! :D

for what it's worth , that's all I could come up with : a early 70's Horuijel EG302, made in Korea ( Samick , same brand for most Hondo's ).Body (bouts)is slightly different and with another style of trem .
This Horuijel is build out of multiplex ( or plywood).
The trem cavity of the "Demont-guitar" is original due to the paint inside , so it's a little bit different .
The pickguard screwholes at the other hand do match ,exept the two near the trussrod regulator.
The bridge could be changed or adapted ?

I wouldn't be surprised if the shaping at the end is not original.
The profile of the edge does not look consistent with similar edges of the body.
With the refinishing job & all it kinda makes sense.
I have an old Aria 1803t body here, that apart from the back cut out is very similar.
There are differences though, bridge route is a different shape & the swimming pool is slightly different also, but it does have a veneer top & bottom.
They were generally finished in a sunburst, with the black hiding the veneer edge.

Thanks for all the replies!
and the famous LordBizarre?! wow! great to meet you
I apologize I hadn't checked the box to be notified upon replies. I had confirmed in the mean time that it is a welson copy, and learned something new about Italian guitars, so thanks much for that information! I still believe its made by guyatone, but its constructed a lot like an old Matsumoku...so i just dont know :/

here is one that appears to match your body almost exactly. the shape is the same, even the arm cut. the pickguard screws seem to be in the same places too. truss rod cutout too. and especially the shape of the trem unit, looks like a dead-on match.
the only difference i can see is the holes for the bridge posts on your body, perhaps that was a modification done because of the older non adjustable bridge you can see on my guitar.
the badge on the headstock reads: Heit Deluxe
