Hi all,

This is my first post and I have come across this forum while trying to find out where this guitar I have came from.

I believe it is a 70's -80's Japanese Guitar. It is obviously a Les Paul Copy of some sort but has a hollow body.

Looking at the stock it seems like there was a label at the top which has been removed in the past.

The neck is bolt on and the tuning pegs have some sort of decretive symmetrical pattern on the back of them, maybe this design is the best clue about the manufacture?
Any help would be great.

Regards

Hi, it is unlikely that anyone will be much help to you. These things were made in much the same manner, using many of the same parts in several guitar factories in Japan in the 70's. When you have an un-branded one it is even harder. The tuners are distinctive and that may help. Do the pups have any markings?

Hi RSBBass,

Thanks for your reply I will look for any markings on them. I do understand there is not much to go on but the body is hollow this also seems to be quite a distinguishing feature?

Regards

Max.

Most of the 70's era generic LP copies had what is called a chambered body. The back was flat and rather than carving the top it was pressed in a mold and glued on creating a hollow chamber that is apparent when you tap on the middle of the top or look in the pup cavity. If it is truly hallow, that would be distinctive.

Ok I took the pups out and can confirm they have no markings.

The pictures also show the body is in fact hollow and that the back is also curved. The neck also has a zero fret? and the bridge has H T F Bridge stamped onthe back of it. Not sure if any of this information helps.

Regards
Max.

Well it is a bit different which may help. If someone has a branded on that matches it you may get lucky. There are some people who only check in here from time to time that know a lot more about these than I do. Hopefully one of them will have something to offer.

Not necessarily rubbish, but it ain't a properly copied LP with good quality solid body construction.
It's up to you as to whether it sounds OK or not. Might surprise you and offer up something interesting...or not.
