A few months ago I bought a Granda guitar on the 2nd hand market, mainly because it came with a nice suitcase. It plays well, except the neck is twisted so the height between the strings vary's. On the first fret the strings buzz because it's too low, on the 12th fret it is unplayable because the strings are too high. The pickups sound decent, especialy the bridge position gives a nice warm tone.

The wood is nice and heavy (I keep forgetting when it's what kind of wood) and it feels really solid.

Does anybody has an idea when this guitar was made and where?

Granada was a Canadian "white label" found on instruments primarily from the 70's. They were targeted primarily at music students and sold through academies of music. Many were actually made by first rate Japanese manufacturers, including but not exclusively, Matsumoku.

The neck does not look too bad actually. If you're willing to try I'll wager you could flatten her back down again. You'd be surprised at how these things can respond to an extended gentle pressure from some "sand bag" weights (bag of rice, sugar, etc) placed at the appropriate place, properly supported, and left in a humid location like a bathroom for a spell.

I still have an LP with the same hand-painted Granada logo on the headstock. An early (early to mid-seventies?) guitar. Quite nice, but hardly up to Par with Mats guitars from around the same period. Found some connections to Sakura and Kasuga. Later Granada's (the better looking ones, sold to music schools around Canada) were better quality, and may have originated from the Matsumoku factories.

Thanks for the link! In a few months I will be moving so I will have the space to try this!

As for the guitar itself: It's a decent guitar. It's just a shame about the neck. It probably was tuned and under tension an not used for years. The hardware itself is nice, and the input and pick ups still worked when i plugged it in!
